Fargo Davies DECA a top MDA fundraiserFARGO – The Fargo Davies High School DECA chapter has raised more than $10,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, ranking it among the top 10 chapters in the nation for fundraising.
That qualified the first-year Davies chapter to attend the International Career Development Conference in Salt Lake City, which runs through Monday.
Juniors Maneesh Apte and Jessica Hanson, and senior Austin Cariveau hit their fundraising goal by organizing several activities, including a golf tournament and a students vs. staff basketball game at the high school. The group also received sponsorships from local businesses.
“We couldn’t be more proud of Maneesh, Austin and Jessica,” said Jason Holland, the Davies DECA adviser.
“The Davies High School DECA Chapter has been an amazing partner,” said Marijo Peterson, executive director of the North Dakota and Northwest Minnesota MDA. “It’s so exciting to see a chapter in their first year reach such a high goal and be recognized nationally for those efforts.”
The money raised by the Davies chapter will help local individuals and families affected by muscular dystrophy and related diseases. It also provides money for research, MDA said in a news release.
