Each season has its virtues, and I’m grateful to live in a part of the world where we can experience so many of them. But to me, there’s just something about spring.
I’m remembering my college days when, at the first sign of winter’s exit, everyone would be out in their shorts, rushing the stage, so to speak. The exhilaration was palpable.
Can anyone be more appreciative of spring than those of us who’ve just survived a winter hanging tight with the frozen earth?
To celebrate the fact that we’ve finally arrived in this most glorious of seasons, I set off with a camera to record just a few of my favorite “spring things.”
I wish I could bottle up the smells as well. The color palette of spring is stunning, but so much of the deep-seated joy I feel when walking into the spring air is linked to scent.
Well, most of the time anyway. I’m thinking of thawing doggy doo now. Some smells are best left frozen.
In all seriousness, I hope you enjoy my take on what’s to celebrate about spring. And don’t forget to breathe in deeply when you’re near a newly-blossoming crabapple tree.
