Williston cracks down on homeless at rec centerWILLISTON, N.D. — Williston officials are getting tough on transient workers and homeless people who use the city's community center to shower and for Internet access.
The Williston Herald reports that Parks and Recreation officials have halted all new monthly memberships and have eliminated a $1.50 per-day rate.
Locker room and showers also are being closed early and the building's wireless Internet is being protected. A television and picnic tables have been removed from the lobby.
Williston Park Board President Larry Grondahl says the action to limit access at the community center was spurred by messes found at the facility, including human waste.
