The class of 2030: Aurora Elementary teachers celebrate a baby boomlet
A dozen babies have been born to Aurora teachers or their wives so far this school year, the most recent addition saying hello to the world two weeks ago.
No memo went out from the central office urging staff to add to the district’s Class of 2030, Principal Carol Zent said Wednesday, but there have been plenty of jokes about the water promoting procreation.
“Twelve. We could make a calendar,” Zent joked as the new parents and their babies gathered after school in the library for a “class picture.”
Zent said the mini baby boom is a record for West Fargo’s schools – at least in recent memory. The Lodoen Kindergarten Center had nine babies one year, she remembers.
“It was a steady stream all year long,” Zent said, though no further additions are expected.
At 7 months old, James Cresap was all shy smile and big beautiful blue eyes Wednesday.
The pint-sized charmer, born in September, is the son of teacher Erica Cresap and Assistant Principal Jason Cresap.
“We have a pretty young staff,” said Erica Cresap, explaining the yearlong birth-a-thon.
Some babies smiled, others crabbed, dozed or goggled as the adults gathered around them, cooing and taking photos and video with cameras and smartphones.
“It’s fantastic!” said physical education teacher Chris Kalsow, grinning from ear to ear as he cradled his daughter, Rhyen, born April 13.
So far, there’s no thought of starting a day care at the school, Zent said, though a few of the 11 moms and dads (there’s a set of twins in the bunch), did float the idea during Wednesday’s photo-centric gathering.
Other members of Aurora’s baby-rama, their teacher parent (in parentheses), and the month they were born are:
• Lana Berger (Christina Berger), and Stella Anderson (Liz Anderson), both September.
• Owen Ramberg (Lindsey Ramberg), October.
• Olivia and Bryce Shannon (Ashley Shannon), November.
• Noah Schafer (school psychologist Terese Schafer), January.
• Kinley Klein (Krista Klein), February.
• Quinn Tiedeman (Heather Tiedeman), Deklen Bowar (Matt Bowar), Brynlie Saxlund (Angie Saxlund), all March.
