Big Boys Toys Expo offers wide variety of male-themed activities
The third annual Big Boys Toy Expo at the Fargodome will offer a day of definite male-themed activities from a Texas Hold’Em poker tournament to a rock climbing wall to a hot wings eating contest.
And then there’s the evening’s Hooters pageant closing out the night, resulting in the crowning of Miss Hooters of North Dakota.
But no matter your interests or what you’re looking for at the expo, event organizer Cheryl Ehrichs says there’ll be something for you - or the man in your life.
“There is definitely a lot going on,” she says. “We want this show to be anything other than a horseman, a home and garden or a boat show. There’s more to life for men that just those things.”
Of course, that’s not to say the Expo, which is organized by The Forum, won’t feature anything like that.
“You’re going to have some vendors that are going to do things like home improvement, of course,” she says. “But it’s definitely a little bit different than what else is out there.”
Saturday’s expo will also feature plenty of interactive, hands-on exhibits to get visitors involved.
“It’s not something where you sit and listen to seminars and walk around and pass by a few booths,” Ehrichs says, pointing to other examples like a scuba diving tank, a pitching cage sponsored by the F-M Redhawks or video games offered by Section 9 Cyber Café.
Tickets to the expo are $10, but once inside all the activities and exhibits are free (except for food or beer tasting).
And though the entire event is marketed toward men, the show isn’t necessarily just for big boys. Ehrics says women and children should find some interesting exhibits or displays that get them involved.
“Anyone can have fun. This is a family-friendly atmosphere,” she says.
Well, at least until the Hooters pageant gets rolling around 7 p.m.
