Significant weather advisory issued for regionMOORHEAD – The National Weather Service has issued a significant weather advisory for Clay, East Polk, Mahnomen, Norman, West Beck, West Otter Tail, West Polk and Wilkin Counties in Minnesota until 1:30 p.m. today.
At 12:29 p.m., radar indicated thunderstorms along a line extending from 8 miles southwest of Fertile, Minn., to 11 miles northeast of Glyndon to Breckenridge, moving east at 15 mph
Law enforcement reported pea- to dime-sized hail in the Glyndon area, according to a weather service release. Hail up to one-half inch in diameter is expected with the storms.
Brief cold air funnels are possible, but the current environment is not conducive for severe thunderstorm-based tornadoes, according to the release. The funnels may briefly touch down but rarely cause damage.
The weather services urges people to take shelter if the storms intensify or if a warning is issued.
