TRADE TALK: Beefsteak Club coming to Fargo

A downtown location that has been home to a number of restaurants will soon serve up a new one.

Beefsteak Club at 612 1st Ave. N. is expected to open in May or June.

Owner David Scheer said he can’t be more specific about the opening date because “there are still some things up in the air.”

Beefsteak Club will offer traditional steak dishes, but with a twist: Customers can cook their own food if they wish.

“We will have a grill in the dining room. If you don’t want to do that, then you can have a chef cook it,” said Scheer, who along with Thamrong Dechawut operates several restaurants in the area, including Thai Orchid in Moorhead and Drunken Noodle/Wasabi and Leela Thai in Fargo.

“We’ve been doing Asian-based restaurants since we started. We thought we’d stretch out into something new,” said Scheer. Beefsteak Club will offer a bar and a boutique wine shop where customers can peruse wines using a computerized guide.

“We’re going to try to cater to people who maybe want to learn more, or just want to have fun picking out their wine,” Scheer said.

Previous restaurants in the same spot include Taste of Italy, Stella’s and Isabella.

Manly manes

A Men’s Hair House will open soon at 3051 25th St. S. in Fargo.

The business caters to “big dudes” and “little dudes,” said Troy Rinehardt, president of the company. He said the lobbies of Men’s Hair Houses boast oversized chairs, big-screen TVs and peanuts.

The shells get thrown on the floor.

For $14.95, customers get a haircut, a shampoo, a scalp massage, a hot-towel treatment and a shoulder message.

A Mens Hair House opened last year at 855 13th Ave. in West Fargo and there is a store in Bismarck.

The store in south Fargo is expected to open in June and the company is looking at possible sites in Moorhead, Osgood and north Fargo.

Bearing Frutti

A Tutti Frutti frozen yogurt shop is now open in south Moorhead, bringing the total number of Tutti Fruttis in the Fargo-Moorhead area to three.

The newest is at 908 Holiday Drive near the intersection of Eighth Street and 24th Avenue in Moorhead, next door to Qdoba.

Hours are Sunday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Tutti Frutti has Fargo locations at 4900 13th Ave. S., and at 32nd Avenue and 25th Street South.
