Areavoices: Make your closet green by re-purposing old items

When tackling the monster in the closet, repurposing items to give them new life instead of tossing them out is one of the most fun and effective ways to “go green.”

Those oh-so-cute shirts and sweaters can be pieced together to make oh-so-cute purses, coin pusrses, or totes.

When I think about repurposing, my mind usually goes to rusty old tools or kitchen items remade into room décor or a vintage dresser turned bathroom vanity. But what about clothing? If our goal is “nothing in the landfill,” what can be done with that favorite pair of jeans with the cute embroidery that absolutely can’t be worn another day but you still can’t quite part with?
