Sanford agrees to merger with Hillsboro Medical CenterHILLSBORO, N.D. – Hillsboro Medical Center and Sanford Health announced today that they have agreed to merge, with plans to seal any deal by the end of the year.
The two health organizations have signed a letter of intent, a non-binding first step toward affiliation.
“Sanford has been an integral part of the Hillsboro medical community since 1985,” Jac McTaggart, the medical center’s chief executive said in a statement. “They are a trusted partner who is committed to improving care in Hillsboro through an integrated health care system.”
Sanford, previously MeritCare, has operated a clinic here since 1985, and has had a management contract for the medical center since 2000.
“The long-term partnership between Sanford and Hillsboro Medical Center is a demonstration of our commitment to patients and rural communities,” Rick Giesel, president of Sanford Health Network Fargo, said in the statement.
