Weekend watch: Gretchen Wilson at The Hub

The self-professed “Redneck Woman,” Gretchen Wilson, lets her hair down and the mud fly Friday night when she plays The Venue at The Hub

2525 9th Ave. S., Fargo.

The county singer gets the weekend rolling with her fun-lovin’ anthems (“Here for the Party,” “All Jacked Up”) and odes to troubled love (“When I Think About Cheatin’,” “Homewrecker”). Adding extra fire power is rising Minneapolis act Rocket Club, promoting its new song “She’s the One.” The group plays WE Fest in August, but opens for Wilson at 8, then plays a CD release show at the adjoining Cadillac Ranch after Wilson’s set.

Tickets for Wilson are $19 and $29 in advance. Rocket Club is free with a Wilson ticket or $10 in advance. Fees may apply. Both shows are ID-only. (866) 300-8300.

If you want to catch another WE Fest bound act, Hitchville plays at 9 p.m. at the Windbreak Saloon, 3150 39th St. S., Fargo. (701) 282-5507.
