Weekend watch: Lori Larusso art reception
If you’ve had lunch at the Plains Art Museum in the past few months, you might have seen the large-scale paintings of Lori Larusso. North Dakota State University’s current James Rosenquist Artist in Residence used ad-like images of food to question the silliness of food marking and Congress’ recent decision to classify pizza as a vegetable in school lunches. Larusso’s new show opened this week at the Memorial Union Gallery, NDSU, and at tonight’s reception, she’ll talk about her exhibit, “Unfunny,” which continues her work re-creating generic images of middle-America that prompt the viewers to consider what they really strive for. The reception runs from 4 to 6 tonight with a talk at 4:30 p.m. (701) 231-9564.
