Fugitive surrenders after Forum profile

FARGO – A 25-year-old Harwood man who was wanted for violating probation on an assault conviction turned himself in after seeing himself featured in The Forum’s “Fugitive Focus.”

The U.S. Marshals Service said Wednesday that Brandon Charles Klevgaard surrendered at the Cass County courthouse to answer for the outstanding warrant in his name.

Klevgaard was convicted in 2010 for simple assault and resisting arrest. Once released from prison, Klevgaard was to serve 18 months of probation.

According to documents filed in Cass County District Court, Klevgaard’s probation officer alleged last fall that he’d violated the terms of his release by not completing outpatient treatment.

A bench warrant was issued for Klevgaard’s arrest in December, after he failed to show up for a court appearance at which time he could’ve answered to the potential violations.

Klevgaard was featured in The Forum in February.

“Fugitive Focus” publishes Mondays in The Forum.

It is a weekly collaboration with the Marshals Service that highlights wanted fugitives charged with violent crime in the Fargo-Moorhead region.

Authorities have apprehended or cleared the warrants of 78 percent of the individuals featured in “Fugitive Focus” since March 2011.
