Brooklyn Park shooting prompts campus lockdown

BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. — Hennepin Technical College in Brooklyn Park has been locked down following a reported shooting in the area.

School spokeswoman Annette Roth says the lockdown was issued Monday at 7:30 a.m. at the suggestion of law enforcement. She says officers are patrolling the area in search of a shooting suspect.

Roth says students who were already onsite are safe in a locked building. She says all other students were sent emails and text messages telling them not to come to campus.

The shooting is not believed to be related to anything happening at the school.

A message left with Brooklyn Park police was not immediately returned.
