Best-selling author Tom Gegax will give talks here May 18 as part of events hosted by the Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber.

Gegax served as chairman and CEO of Tires Plus Stores for 24 years.

When he sold the company in 2000, it had grown to 150 stores in 10 states and had $200 million in revenue.

Gegax was named the 1995 Midwest Entrepreneur of the Year by Inc. magazine and is the youngest person to be inducted into the Minnesota Business Hall of Fame.

The Fargo presentations will be at the Ramada Plaza & Suites and Conference Center.

The cost to attend each session is $65 for members; $85 for general admission.

Positive ink

A Fargo-based manufacturing company that builds the Lift’n Buddy has made Food Logistics Magazine’s annual top 10 list of logistics innovators, which recognizes forward-thinking companies.

“It’s a bold statement to describe your product as the ‘future of hand trucks,’ but Ergologistics, the manufacturer of the Lift’n Buddy, is living up to the claim,” said Lara Sowinski, the magazine’s editor.

The Lift’n Buddy is a mobile lifting device that combines a standard two-wheeler’s durability with automatic lifting and lowering capabilities.

Aaron Lamb, president and founder of Ergologistics, said ongoing improvement in worker safety standards in Canada and Europe, and to some extent the United States, is helping drive interest in the Lift’n Buddy.

Hiring open house

RDO Equipment Co. will host a hiring open house from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 14 in Bismarck and Moorhead.

The company wants to fill service technician positions and positions in parts, service and sales throughout the company’s 29 Midwest locations.

There will be on-site interviews and participants are asked to bring updated resumes.

• Designs on Eighth, a home décor store within True Value, is also closing.

• Video Action at 240 42nd St. S. in Fargo, plans to close its doors soon and, like True Value, has been selling out inventory.
