Fargo flight delayed after plane strikes hawkFARGO – A flight from Hector International Airport to Chicago was delayed Thursday afternoon after airport officials say the plane struck a red-tailed hawk in the air.
According to the Fargo Airport Authority, American Eagle flight 4080 to Chicago hit the hawk shortly after takeoff, and was then diverted back to Hector so crews could check the plane for damage.
After personnel made sure there was nothing wrong with the plane, the flight again took off for Chicago after a nearly three-hour delay.
Airport officials said the deceased hawk was found and properly disposed of.
