JAMESTOWN COLLEGE NEWS: Jamestown (N.D.) College freshman Keleigh Van Dyke has been named co-editor of the Nursing Student Association of North Dakota’s publication “Vital Issues.” Van Dyke is the daughter of Kevin and Sandy Van Dyke of Moorhead.

UND NEWS: The following Fargo students were awarded Transfer Student Scholarships from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks: Lauren Carew, Eric Jagim, Landon Johnson and Jordan Mari.

FUTURE LEADERS: Elsa Bollinger, daughter of Bruce and Gail Bollinger, and Ayushi Saxena, daughter of Vineet and Divya Saxena, have been selected to represent West Fargo High School at the North Dakota Leadership Seminar June 1-3 at the University of Mary, Bismarck. The North Dakota Leadership Seminar is a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring leadership skills and a spirit of volunteerism in the state’s young people.

OUTSTANDING!: Lola Knutson, a reading specialist at Central Elementary and St. John’s School in Wahpeton, N.D., is one of nine teachers nationwide to be recognized by the American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture for efforts to promote agricultural literacy. She was awarded a scholarship to attend the National Agriculture in the Classroom Conference in Loveland, Colo., in June.

CONTINUING EDUCATION: Creighton Brown, son of Susan and Stuart Brown, West Fargo, has been accepted to the University of Kansas, Lawrence, to complete his doctorate in English. Brown earned a bachelor’s degree in English and Spanish at Concordia College and his master’s degree in English at the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks.

INTERNS AND CLERKS: The RLE Group of Fargo has hired Emily Flemming as a design intern. Flemming earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from Concordia College and plans to graduate from North Dakota State University in 2013 with a degree in interior design.

AND THE WINNER IS ...: Several Cheney Middle School students were winners in the Cass County and State MathCounts Contests. The team of Preston Gapp, Jarrett Meester, Nathaniel Ingebretson and Sierra Romero took first place in the county competition and second at state. Individual awards were as follows: Jarrett Meester, first place at county and eighth at state; Alex Hettwer, seventh at county; Preston Gapp, ninth at county and fourth at state; Nathaniel Ingebretson, 10th at county and 19th at state. Gapp also earned a trip to the national MathCounts competition in Orlando, Fla., in May.

EXHIBITS AND PERFORMANCES: Hannah Amundson, daughter of Mark and LoAnn Amundson, Fargo, is a member of the production of “Camino Real” at Concordia College. Scheduled performances are: 8 p.m. April 13; 2 and 8 p.m. April 14; and 2 p.m. April 15.
