Grenstiner charged with murder in Bismarck mother's death
Dean Grenstiner faces a murder charge that carries a maximum penalty of life in prison without parole. South Central District Judge Tom Schneider on Friday ordered Grenstiner held without bail.
Grenstiner was not asked to enter any pleas, but said during court he was not guilty. He requested a court-appointed attorney.
Grenstiner was charged earlier with stealing his mother's car after she was found dead Tuesday in her Bismarck home.
Authorities say Ann Grenstiner died from being beaten in the head.
Police tracked Dean Grenstiner's cell phone to a Salvation Army office in Moorhead before he was arrested for stealing his mother's car.
Authorities said Friday they found evidence later to justify charging him with murder.
