Minnesota father charged with assaulting infant

PINE CITY, Minn. — An eastern Minnesota father is charged with injuring his infant daughter who doctors say has at least 21 broken bones.

Twenty-year-old William Olsen, of Sandstone, is jailed in Pine County on four felony charges, including first-degree assault. Sheriff's officials received a report of suspected child abuse from Essentia Health Hospital in Sandstone March 22.

Court documents say the infant underwent emergency surgery at University of Minnesota Hospital where doctors found 21 fractures and five likely fractures.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press (http://bit.ly/GTY7yo ) reports a complaint says Olsen told investigators he had repeatedly squeezed the infant and picked her up by the leg.
