Wahpeton-Breckenridge bars considering 'zero tolerance' violence policyWAHPETON, N.D. — Operators of several bars in Wahpeton and neighboring Breckenridge, Minn., are banding together to try to reduce violence after a string of incidents in recent months.
Sportsman's Lounge manager Gerald Pulvermacher says the "zero tolerance" effort would mean that if a patron causes problems at one bar, he or she might be barred from all participating establishments.
Bar operators are working with attorneys on the proper legal steps. Police Chief Scott Thorsteinson says he thinks the idea is a good one.
There have been three knife-related incidents at Wahpeton-Breckenridge bars in the past five months, the latest happening last week.
