Mandan Rep. Kelsch endorsed for re-electionMANDAN, N.D. (AP) — Mandan state Rep. RaeAnn Kelsch has been endorsed to run for re-election despite recent news she didn't file state income tax returns for seven years.
Republicans in Mandan's District 34 on Tuesday supported Kelsch for another term. She defeated challenger Dustin Gawrylow (GUH'-ver-low).
Kelsch is chairwoman of the North Dakota House's Education Committee. She says she's confident she can overcome the income tax issue in a campaign.
Kelsch's husband Tom says he is to blame for the tax problems. The North Dakota Tax Department filed a $300,000 lien against the couple for back taxes, penalties and interest. RaeAnn Kelsch says the bill has been paid.
Kelsch, Rep. Todd Porter and Sen. Dwight Cook represent Mandan in the Legislature. Cook and Porter were endorsed for re-election without opposition.
