Fargo man charged with raping womanFARGO – A 47-year-old Fargo man was charged Wednesday with raping an unconscious woman at his apartment here last September.
According to charges filed in Cass County District Court, Allen Cooper and several friends had been out drinking the night of Sept. 4. The group returned to Cooper’s apartment to watch a movie, at which point the woman fell asleep.
The alleged victim told police she woke up later that morning to Cooper on top of her. When she tried to resist, she told police, the man wrapped his hand around her throat, causing her to pass out, court documents state.
Fargo police said tests matched Cooper’s DNA to samples taken from the woman.
Cooper is charged with one count of gross sexual imposition, a Class AA felony with a minimum mandatory sentence of 20 years in prison if convicted.
