Straka pitches shutout as Bison defeat Gophers in baseballMINNEAPOLIS – John Straka tossed a complete-game shutout as North Dakota State defeated Minnesota 7-0 in college baseball Tuesday at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome.
Straka allowed six hits and walked two while striking out eight.
NDSU had the lead just two batters into the game. Tim Colwell tripled to lead off and came around to score on a ground out.
The Bison added two more runs in the sixth inning before breaking the game open with a four-run ninth inning.
Nick Colwell went 3-for-5 with two doubles for NDSU, while Wes Satzinger and Max Casper each had two hits.
The Bison (13-5) and Gophers (9-12) wrap up a two-game series at 3 p.m. today at the Metrodome.
