Dilworth man accused of threatening clerkFARGO – A Dilworth man is facing charges after police here say he tried to use a promise of payment later to get cigarettes from a Stamart store and then threatened the store employee with a knife, court documents allege.
According to charges filed Monday in Cass County District Court, Fargo police were called to a report of a robbery Saturday afternoon at the Stamart store at 3500 12th Ave. N.
There, the store clerk told police that a man, later identified as 47-year-old James Allen Jones, allegedly tried to use a handwritten IOU note to pay for a single carton of cigarettes.
When the store clerk confronted Jones, the man allegedly pointed to a large knife on his belt and said, “Try to get close to me or grab the cigs and I’ll cut you,” the clerk told police.
When police located Jones, he allegedly resisted arrest and yelled at officers to shoot him, records state.
Police allegedly recovered three knives, 24 tablets of hydrocodone and used drug paraphernalia from Jones, court documents say.
Jones is charged with one count each of terrorizing, possession of hydrocodone and possession of drug paraphernalia, all felonies.
