Three Affiliated Tribes setting up highway patrol unit

NEW TOWN, N.D. (AP) — The Three Affiliated Tribes is setting up a highway patrol unit on the Fort Berthold Reservation in northwest North Dakota.

The Minot Daily News reports that the unit is modeled after the North Dakota Highway Patrol, with officers, truck inspectors and a registration specialist. It will become active in April.

Four sport utility vehicles are on order and expected to arrive later this month. Interim MHA Nation Highway Patrol Director Richard Hall says the unit will have its own uniforms and logo.
