Derailed train blocks Moorhead intersectionsMOORHEAD – A derailed BNSF train blocked two intersections along First Avenue North here Saturday night.
A section of the train left the tracks near Riverfront Park around 8 p.m., leaving the train stalled across intersections at Seventh and Eighth streets. Non-derailed sections on either end were moved about an hour later, clearing the intersections.
Moorhead Police Sergeant Robert Mathison said there were no injuries and no damage to property other than the train. They said they don’t know what caused the derailment.
Mathison said about 20 to 30 cars remained in the park area as of Saturday night.
