Maple Syrup Festival set March 31 in VergasVERGAS, Minn. – The annual Maple Syrup Festival will be held here on March 31.
The event includes a pancake, sausage and juice breakfast from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Vergas Event Center.
A 5K walk-run starts at 9 a.m.; participants can register starting at 8 a.m. at Billy’s Corner Bar. The top three finishers in each age category will receive a copper maple leaf made by artist Pat Shannon, who lives near Vergas.
There will also be sugar house tours to see how maple syrup is produced, an Easter egg hunt for children up to age 10 will start at 10 a.m. in the Vergas City Park and a Goodwill food drive will be ongoing throughout the day to benefit the local food pantry.
