ND man accused of swapping sexual photos with teen

BISMARCK, N.D. — Bismarck police say that graphic text messages and photographs led to the arrest of a 39-year-old man charged with four sex crimes involving a 16-year-old girl.

Police say James Thompson, a convicted sex offender, sent thousands of texts to the girl, many including descriptions of sex acts. Thompson and the girl allegedly swapped graphic cellphone photos. KXMB reports (http://bit.ly/yUupqI ) that the girl told police she tried to stop sending photos, but Thompson would get mad and threaten her.

Thompson, who previously had been convicted of gross sexual imposition for having sex with a 14-year-old girl, is serving a yearlong sentence for failing to register as a sex offender in September. He's to be tried separately on the new charges, which include luring and using a minor in a sexual performance.
