Body found in burned car in northeast South Dakota

FERNEY, S.D. (AP) — Authorities are trying to determine the identity of a body that was found in a burned car near the northeastern South Dakota town of Ferney over the weekend.

Brown County Sheriff Mark Milbrandt tells the American News that it appears the car went into the ditch and caught fire. A passer-by reported the wreck on Saturday morning.

The body was taken to Grand Forks for an autopsy. Brown County Coroner Michael Carlsen says DNA tests could take up to six weeks.
