FirstLink phone number clarifiedIt was wonderful to see The Forum write an article about suicide rates on the front page of the paper on Sunday, Feb. 26. I just want to clarify the phone number that was listed for FirstLink.
FirstLink is the only call center in the entire state of North Dakota and in Clay County, Minn., to answer the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. This 24-hour lifeline’s phone number is (800) 273-8255(TALK). The Forum had listed our administrative phone number, which is for administrative issues Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. only. Please advise your readers to contact the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline if they need to talk to someone about suicide issues.
Also I want to thank you for helping us educate the public about suicide intervention and prevention. FirstLink answers these calls, provides suicide education outreach to area schools and groups, holds a yearly “Walk of Hope” and coordinates a monthly suicide survivor’s support group. If you want more information about FirstLink’s services, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thanks again for your support.
Miller is FirstLink executive director.
