Starion Financial donated more than $250,000 to community organizations and capital campaigns in 2011.
Area organizations receiving funds were Trollwood Performing Arts School, Plains Art Museum and the Northern Lights Council Jon L. Wanzek Center for Scouting.
TNT Kid’s Fitness receives $5K grant
TNT Kid’s Fitness, Fargo, has received a $5,000 match grant from the Dakota Medical Foundation.
The grant will support a partnership to pilot and expand physical activity in the West Fargo preschool and Head Start programs.
Hospice of the RRV receives challenge grant
Hospice of the Red River Valley has been awarded a $75,000 challenge grant from the Otto Bremer Foundation.
The challenge grant will provide matching funds for these types of donations made in 2012:
- $5,000 or more match for each new charitable gift annuity.
- $5,000 or a match for each new Legacy Society member planned gift.
- A dollar-for-dollar match for each IRA rollover.

Western State Bank donates cash, food
Western State Bank locations in West Fargo and Fargo collected 201.4 pounds in canned goods during the bank’s “Unite to Fight Hunger” food drive in February.
The food was donated to Churches United for the Homeless, and the company matched the food donation with a cash donation of $201.40.
