Susan Welo of Securities America has been awarded the No. 1 Producing Financial Advisor Award and was named an Elite Advisor for 2011 by USAdvisors Network.
The acknowledgement is given to the adviser who exemplifies the qualities and actions required to be successful in providing financial advisement to bank clients.
Welo, who is based in Casselton, N.D., partnered with First State Bank of North Dakota and the Goose River Bank to work with their clients.
Matt Moxness earns Nodak Mutual honors
Matt Moxness, a career agent for Nodak Mutual Insurance Co. in West Fargo, was recognized as a state sales leader and senior partner at the recent annual agents rally in Fargo.
His state sales leader recognition was based on client retention for his business unit.
The senior partner recognition was for sales performance in property/casualty, life insurance production and client retention.
Miller re-elected to Starion Financial board
Tammy Miller, chief executive officer of Border States Electric, has been re-elected to the board of directors of Starion Financial.
Starion has 13 locations throughout Bismarck-Mandan, Bottineau, Dunseith, Rolla, Ellendale, Oakes and Fargo in North Dakota, and Middleton, Wis.
Heritage Homes named U.S. Chamber winner
Heritage Homes of Fargo has been named a Blue Ribbon Small Business Award winner by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
The awards program honors companies that demonstrate excellent business practices in several areas, including strategy, employee development, community involvement and customer service.
This year’s 75 Blue Ribbon winners will be honored at America’s Small Business Summit 2012 slated May 21-23 in Washington D.C.
On March 15, seven of the Blue Ribbon recipients will be announced as award finalists, and one will be named the DREAM BIG Small Business of the Year during the summit. The winner will be presented with a $10,000 cash prize courtesy of the U.S. Chamber.
H2M wins ADDY awards from advertising group
H2M, a Fargo marketing agency, won one gold and five silver ADDY awards at the American Advertising Federation’s annual ADDY Awards program recently held in Fargo.
The ADDY awards program honors those who excel in advertising each year.
Julie Rokke joins CCRI board of directors
Julie Rokke has joined the Creative Care of Reaching Independence board of directors.
Rokke is the principal and owner of YHR Partners of Moorhead.
La Quinta earns customer service award
La Quinta Inn & Suites of Fargo has won the Region 63 Customer Service Award for the second consecutive year at the brand‘s national conference in New Orleans.
The Fargo hotel is locally owned and managed by Dell Arneson.
BW Insurance Agency in Fargo earns honors
BW Insurance Agency in Fargo was named 2011 Agency of the Year for BWIA. The award is given to the agency that generates the highest revenue growth throughout the year.
BWIA also named David Cole, an account executive at the Fargo agency, as 2011 Life Insurance Producer of the Year. Cole has more than 25 years of experience in the life insurance industry.
Area photographers earn national honors
John Craig, Dan Francis and Jessica Sell were recently awarded Merit Images at the Professional Photographers of America’s 2012 District Photographic Competition.
Their images will be on display in Atlanta for the national photographic convention Imaging USA, an annual convention for professional photographers.
Francis operates Dan Francis Photography in Fargo. Two of his photos, “The Traveler” and “Forgive Me,” were accepted as merit Images.
Sell, of All Event Photography in Fargo, had two images selected, “Victory Clutch” and “Razor Sharp.”
Craig’s photo “Forty Seven Fifty One” was also selected. Craig is a freelance photographer in West Fargo.
Kazmierczak earns administrator honor
Wayne Kazmierczak, assistant superintendent with Moorhead Area Schools, has been named an outstanding central office leader by the Minnesota Association of School Administrators.
He will be honored for exhibiting a willingness to risk, possessing strong communications skills, being a progressive change agent, and having high expectations for self and others at a ceremony next weekend in Bloomington, Minn.
He is being recognized for his leadership while navigating through the district’s financial difficulties, which included the passage of an $850 per-pupil operating levy in November.
Sanford Health nurses receive Daisy Awards
Registered nurses Jenny Alfson and Maggie Olson have received the Daisy Award.
The award is given to nurses who are recognized as outstanding role models who consistently demonstrate excellence through clinical expertise and compassionate, extraordinary care.
Alfson works in critical care services and Olson works in the oncology unit at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo.
Dynamic Homes earns Energy Star certification
Dynamic Homes of Detroit Lakes, Minn., has been recognized as an Energy Star Certified Systems-Built Homes Production Facility.
To earn the Energy Star, a home must meet strict guidelines for energy efficiency set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Homes are at least 15 percent more energy efficient than homes built to the 2004 International Residential Code, and include additional energy-saving features that typically make them significantly more efficient than standard homes.
Lakes & Prairies earns best practices awards
Lakes & Prairies Community Action Partnership of Moorhead was recently honored with two awards at the Minnesota Community Action Partnership’s Best Practices Awards held in St. Paul.
It was awarded a Promising Practices Award for “Banking the Unbanked,” for incorporating prepaid debit card services as a method to provide low-cost banking services to the previously unbanked.
Lakes & Prairies also shared the Best Practices Award with West Central Initiative, West Central Minnesota Communities Action, Mahube Community Council and Otter Tail-Wadena Community Action Council for their involvement with the Leadership Academy that helps previously undiscovered, low-income leaders take more active roles in building their communities’ future.
Farmers Union names Fjeld Agent of the Year
The Farmers Union Agency in St. Paul recently named Moorhead agent Dennis Fjeld 2011 Agent of the Year.
He was selected from 40 insurance agents throughout the state. The recognition is the result of outstanding agency performance and a consistent high level of exceptional service to clients.
M&J Construction earns asphalt industry honor
M&J Construction of Moorhead recently earned an honorable mention in the Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association’s Quality Asphalt Roofing Case Study Awards Program.
The program’s goal is to identify those projects that have succeeded in blending an asphaltic roofing product, having its own unique color, texture or style, into a particular structure through the design, installation and innovation.
The firm was recognized for a home built in Erhard, Minn.
Country Financial names Phil Haug top manager
Country Financial has named Phil Haug of Fargo the top agency manager of the central region in 2011.
Country Financial recognizes a regional champion agency manager from each of its three regions.
FM Realtors Exchange elects officers for 2012
The FM Area Commercial Realtors Exchange elected the following 2012 officers at its annual meeting: Rick Flacksbarth, Cityscapes Development, president; Kelly Parrett, Lexstar Real Estate Services, vice president; and Matt Durbin, Konrad Olson Commercial Real Estate, secretary and treasurer.
ComEx is a group of 100 commercial realtors in Fargo-Moorhead and the surrounding area.
Vold earns reward through pilot program
Pilot John Vold of Fargo was recently honored by the “Create a Flying Legacy in North Dakota” passport program at the recent Upper Midwest Aviation Symposium in Bismarck.
Pilots earn a stamp every time they visit a North Dakota airport or air museum, as well as when they participate in FAA safety seminars. Like a frequent flyer program, pilots can earn rewards ranging from a shirt, flight bag and a leather jacket for the various levels of accumulated stamps.
Nor-Son earns two builders’ awards
Nor-Son, a construction services firm with offices in Baxter, Minn., and Fargo, recently earned two awards from Minnesota Associated Builders and Contractors.
Nor-Son was honored in the residential single family $1 million-$5 million category for its “Summer Kitchen” entry, and the Healthcare $1 million-$ 5 million category for its “Garden House at St. Mary’s” entry.
ABC’s award program is designed to recognize publicly the quality and innovation of merit shop construction and to honor all the members of the construction team, including the contractor, the owner and the design team responsible for the projects.
