Woman suing Valley City, claims handcuff injuriesFARGO – A woman claims she suffered permanent injuries from handcuffs used by two Valley City police officers.
According to KVRR-TV, Cheryl Schultz is suing the city of Valley City and the two officers in federal court. Schultz claims she was injured by the handcuffs when she was arrested for driving while intoxicated in 2009.
KVRR reported that police tried to use bolt cutters to remove one of the handcuffs that had gotten stuck.
When those didn’t work, they tried an electric grinder that caused second- degree burns to her skin.
Schultz is seeking more than $50,000 in damages.
