Obama budget rebuilds economyOur president’s top priority in his 2013 budget proposal is to boost the middle class and promote economic fairness. He maintains that high-quality education is critical to rebuilding our economy. Strengthening America’s workforce requires that we invest in education.
Highlights of President Barack Obama’s budget:
- Ensure greater college and career access to all students.
- Target resources toward job creation, which includes retaining and hiring teachers and educating support professionals and responders.
- Increase the quality of teachers’ preparation to make sure all teachers are prepared when they step into the classroom.
The Republicans’ (tea party) priorities are to cut teachers, eliminate collective bargaining and unions, eliminate tenure for teachers and eliminate Head Start, among other cuts.
Billionaires can hire private teachers or send their children to private schools, so they don’t care.
Why would the tea party want to make these cuts to the middle class and yet will not pay their fair share of taxes?
