Moorhead's Morlock upsets Apple Valley's Woiwer; advances to title matchMoorhead's Chase Morlock pulled off one of the bigger upsets Saturday beating Apple Valley's Daniel Woiwer 5-3 in overtime in the Class 3A semifinals at the Minnesota state wrestling tournament.
Morlock, now 40-4, advances to the state title match. The state finals will start at 7:30 p.m. and with Morlock being a 182-pounder, his match will come later.
He was down 3-1 but got a two-point takedown with 15 seconds left in the third period sending it into overtime where he won 20 seconds later on another two-point takedown.
Morlock is one of three area wrestlers advancing to the finals.
New York Mills' Shane Novak will be in the Class 1A finals in the 106-pound class while Frazee's Rij Koenen will be in the 152-pound finals.
