SUV and semi collide near Valley City, ND, trailer park
VALLEY CITY, N.D. – Icy roadways caused a two-vehicle collision Friday night on I-94 near Valley City.
According to State Trooper John Skalicky, it appears the driver of the SUV lost control and was struck by the semi around 7:30 p.m. Both vehicles went north off the Interstate and into a steep ditch or ravine. The vehicles broke through a fence before they came to a rest.
A trailer park was located on the north side of the fence, and one of the initial 911 calls came from a resident there. The trailer park was used to access the scene, rather than from the interstate side.
The driver of the SUV was trapped in the vehicle and had to be excavated. The driver of the semi and a 16-year-old passenger were both fine. The juvenile was sent to Mercy Hospital in Valley City with minor injuries and was released.
