Aho advances; Nylander injured in Class 2A opening round

Fergus Falls' Abbot Aho took a first-round victory to open the Class 2A individual competition at the Minnesota state wrestling tournament at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn.

Aho finished third last season in the 113-pound class and his run to another medal got a strong start with a commanding 21-12 victory.

Detroit Lakes' Gabe Foltz, the only senior in his weight class, opened the 106-pound division with a 13-2 victory.

Joining them in the second round will be Park Rapids' Forrest Drury and Perham's Jesse Hein.

Perham's Cody Nylander had a 7-2 lead and actually pinned his opponent. But on the way up, he right knee buckled not allowing him to get up.

Nylander will move on to the second round but if his injury is severe, he might have to bow out on an injury default.
