Several area North Dakota Angus breeders were recognized nationally by the American Angus Association for having registered cows in the association’s 2012 Pathfinder Report.
Area breeders were: Brian McDonald, Christopher McDonald, Roger McDonald, all Leonard; Billy Hoffmann, Wheatland; Dale and Dana Sprunk, Chaffee; and Verrill and Barb Sprunk, Enderlin.
The Pathfinder program identifies superior Angus cows based on recorded performance traits economically important to efficient beef production.
Botner earns Five Lives Club membership
Ryan Botner was honored in the Northwestern Mutual monthly Sales Leaders Book for attaining membership in the “Five Lives Club.”
Membership is granted to a financial representative who sells five life insurance policies during a single production month. Botner now has 60 months of five lives.
Botner is associated with Northwestern Mutual in Fargo.
Dennis, Kay Nelson named top sales team
Homesmart Realtors has honored Dennis and Kay Nelson as the top sales team for 2011.
Both have been active in real estate since 1977.
Kadrmas named Young Engineer of the Year
Josh Kadrmas was honored with the 2011-2012 Young Engineer of the Year award by the F-M Engineers Club, Chapter IV of North Dakota Society of Professional Engineers.
The award recognizes an outstanding young engineer for educational, professional, technical and civic achievements.
Kadrmas is a graduate of North Dakota State University. He works in the Fargo office of Houston Engineering and has 11 years of experience.
Engineering firms honored by NDSPE
Houston Engineering and Moore Engineering received the 2011-2012 Outstanding Engineering Design Award from the Fargo Chapter of the North Dakota Society of Professional Engineers for their project FM Area Diversions Feasibility Study Technical Assistance.
The award recognizes outstanding engineering firms based on the engineering design content of a project completed or under construction in 2011.
Judging was based on innovation, quality and uniqueness.
Sanford Health nurses receive Daisy Awards
Registered nurses Janna Westerholm and Julie Martin have received the Daisy Award.
The award is given to nurses who are recognized as outstanding role models who consistently demonstrate excellence through clinical expertise and compassionate, extraordinary care.
Westerholm works in the family birth center and Martin works in the medical and surgical unit at Sanford Health in Fargo.
Two appointed to Tri-College board
Tri-College University has appointed Debra Knutson and Mark Nisbet to its board of directors.
Knutson is a master teacher for Prairie Public Television and a facilitator for its Teacher Training Institutes. She earned a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from St. Thomas University and a bachelor’s degree in art education from Minnesota State University Moorhead.
Nisbet is the North Dakota principal manager for Xcel Energy. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Minnesota State University Moorhead and is a graduate of the Minnesota Management Institute at the Carlson School of Business, University of Minnesota.
Johnson-Drenth named ACTEC fellow
The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel recently elected Susan E. Johnson-Drenth one of 29 Fellows to the College at its national meeting in Coronado, Calif.
ACTEC is a nonprofit association of more than 2,600 trust and estate lawyers. Candidates for election must meet eligibility criteria including, but not limited to, no less than 10 years of experience in the active private practice of probate and trust law or estate planning.

Erik Hatch named Cultural Ambassador
Erik Hatch of Keller Williams Roers Realty of Fargo was named a Cultural Ambassador by Keller Williams Realty at the company’s annual convention in Orlando.
The honor, a lifetime appointment, is given to only two associates from each Keller Williams region each year who have demonstrated what it means to live and grow the company culture.
Hatch is now challenged to help to continue to grow, inspire and motivate locally, while assisting with action plans for regional success.

Marketing firms win ADDY Awards
The American Advertising Federation of North Dakota recently held its annual ADDY Awards ceremony in Fargo.
Flint Communications of Fargo took home 22 awards, including 11 gold and 11 silver in 19 categories and representing work for 12 clients.
Absolute Marketing of Moorhead won 18 ADDY Awards, 10 gold and eight silver. The awards spanned categories of print, outdoor advertising, promotional videos, illustration and interactive media.
The ADDY Awards recognize the best of creative advertising in North Dakota and western Minnesota.
