Police continue to dig in possible Crystal infant deathCRYSTAL, Minn. — Authorities continue to dig in the backyard of a Crystal home for evidence in the suspected death of an infant years ago.
Crystal Police Chief John Banick tells the Star Tribune that members of the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office crime lab are focusing on a small portion of the backyard.
Investigators warmed a specific patch of ground Thursday so they can turn the soil behind the home.
A man and woman who lived there have been arrested in the case. Banick says authorities have until 4 p.m. Friday to charge the two or they would be released from jail while the investigation continues.
Officers were told of the possible death on Tuesday while they were investigating a domestic assault.
