Winter Show marks 75th year

Valley City, N.D. - The North Dakota Winter Show turns 75 this year, and the agribusiness extravaganza is marking the milestone with special events.

The winter show officially starts Tuesday and runs through March 11.

But as a warm-up, there will be a concert by a Garth Brooks tribute band, World According to Garth, at the winter show complex on Saturday starting at 8 p.m.

In addition, Dakota Air: The Radio Show will broadcast from the Vangstad Auditorium at Valley City State University on Sunday, with the production focusing on the Winter Show’s history.

Something new with the winter show this year will be an antiques and collectibles auction. The auction will be in the show’s main arena starting at 6 p.m. Thursday.

As in years past, the Ag Challenge will take up the first several days of the Winter Show, featuring many seminars and talks, said Dawn Riley, the winter show’s new manager.

Riley said a number of entertainment events will be offered on the free stage in the south exhibit building from next Friday through March 11.

In addition, Craig Morgan will perform a concert next Friday evening. The show will also feature 32 Below and the Michael D Band.

The concert starts at 6:30 p.m. in the main arena, with doors opening at 6 p.m.

Tickets for the concert are $35 in advance and $40 on the day of the concert.

The Miss Rodeo North Dakota Winter Show coronation will be at 6:30 p.m. March 10 in the main arena.

PRCA Rodeo events will be held March 10 and March 11.
