Fugitive Focus: Harvie Lamont Granger

Local and federal authorities are seeking to apprehend a 26-year-old Moorhead man who has outstanding warrants in Cass County, N.D., and Hennepin County, Minn.

In 2010, Harvie Lamont Granger was among four people charged in Cass County with criminal conspiracy to commit burglary.

Granger and his accomplices were accused of picking up a pedestrian in Fargo and holding him down to take about $1 and a pack of cigarettes.

The victim told authorities he was out walking when a white station wagon pulled up and a passenger asked him if he could help them find a McDonald’s.

After the victim got in the car, the driver pulled the wagon into an alley near the 1200 block of 10th Street North in Fargo, where a man put his hand over the victim’s mouth, cutting off his breathing.

While doing this, the man reached into the victim’s pocket and took the pack of smokes and “a little more than a dollar,” according to court records.

Police stopped a station wagon matching the description, and the victim identified three people inside, including Granger.

Granger was ordered to serve a suspended sentence of 11 months in jail, pending two years of supervised probation.

Earlier this month, a Cass County judge issued a warrant for Granger’s arrest after state prosecutors filed a petition to revoke Granger’s probation on the grounds that he violated the terms of his release.

Granger is also wanted by the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office for failing to appear in court there after he allegedly violated probation on a 2009 conviction for check forgery.
