MAKING THE GRADE: Jessica Pollard, Fargo, has been named to the dean’s list at Gonzaga University, Spokane, Wash.

Sarah Pedersen, Fargo, was named to the dean’s list at Eastern Oregon University, La Grande.

TWIRLING NEWS: The following members of the FM YMCA of Cass Clay Silver Baton Twirlers won awards at a recent competition in Minneapolis:

Kaycee Froysland, 14, won first in two-baton twirling; second and third in solo twirling; and third in modeling and marching.

Rachel Green, 13, won first in show twirl, two-baton, solo twirling and marching; and second in solo twirling.

Jessica Green, 10, won first in solo twirling; second in modeling, marching and two-baton; and third in solo twirling and marching.

Elizabeth Bertel, 7, won first in modeling, marching, solo twirling, two-baton and show twirl; second in modeling; and third in marching.

Paige Warren, 13, won first in modeling and solo twirling; second in marching, solo and modeling; and third in show twirl.

The team is coached by Merrie Sue Holtan, Perham, Minn., Shaina Magel, Fargo, and Aimee Barmore, Minneapolis.

AND THE WINNER IS ...: Several Park Christian students were winners in the Western Minnesota Regional Science Fair held in Crookston and will advance to the state competition in March at the Minnesota Academy of Science in Bloomington, Minn.

Winners in the high school competition were: Haleigh Larson, first; Amy Anfinrud, second; and Ander Sawchuk, fourth. Emily Tsen also qualified to attend the state competition.

Larson also won a spot to compete in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in Pittsburgh in May. Anfinrud will have the opportunity to join Larson at the fair as an observer.

Winners in the junior high competition were: Olson Langness, first; Elizabeth Fisher, second; and Jessica Engler, third. Also qualifying for the state competition were Adrianna Kallis and Molly Jaspers.

AWARDS AND OTHER RECOGNITIONS: Vanessa Kocka of Fargo’s Washington Elementary School and Judi Hillier of Jefferson Elementary School in Valley City, N.D., were recently honored with the Award for Counselor Excellence by the North Dakota School Counselors Association. The award ranks the teachers and their schools as having two of the best comprehensive programs in the state.

Essentia Health Volunteer Coordinator Jan Albrecht was awarded the Volunteer Coordinator Award at the Golden DOVS (Dedicated and Outstanding Volunteer Service) award banquet in Fargo. Albrecht was recognized for her nearly 12 years of service at Essentia Health and her dedication to patient care.
