Video: Crystal workers, supporters denied from delivering petition

MOORHEAD – Hundreds of locked-out American Crystal Sugar workers and their supporters were denied from delivering a petition to company CEO David Berg today as part of a “Journey for Justice” rally.

The petition, signed by more than 33,000 people, called on Berg to end the lockout and resume negotiations with locked-out workers.

Sen. Tim Mathern, D-Fargo, tried to deliver the petition on behalf of the workers, but was turned back by security. Mathern attempted to personally call Berg on his cellphone, but was unable to reach him.

Earlier in the afternoon, workers rallied at the Courtyard by Marriot to kick off “From Fargo to Findlay: A Journey for Justice.” Four locked-out American Crystal workers will join four locked-out tire plant workers from Ohio to begin a thousand-mile road trip from Fargo to Findlay, Ohio, to highlight the grievances of locked-out workers.
