‘Journey for Justice’FARGO – Four locked-out tire plant workers from Ohio will join four locked-out American Crystal Sugar workers here today to begin a thousand-mile road trip to highlight their labor grievances.
The event, billed as “From Fargo to Findlay: A Journey for Justice,” will leave from the Fargo Labor Temple at 1:30 p.m. That will follow a rally at noon at Courtyard by Marriot, 1080 28th Ave. S., Moorhead.
Four workers from Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. will join four fellow workers from American Crystal for a rally and deliver “tens of thousands” of petition signatures to David Berg, the sugar cooperative’s chief executive.
The “Journey for Justice” is a joint project of the United Steelworkers and the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers, and Grain Millers International Union.
The delegation of workers from the two unions will travel together, stopping in six states over six days.
More than 1,300 Crystal Sugar workers have been locked out of seven facilities in Minnesota, North Dakota and Iowa since August.
