Moorhead scholarships phonathon Feb 27-28

MOORHEAD – The Moorhead Area Education Foundation is holding its 21st annual Dollars for Scholars Phonathon from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Feb. 27 and 28 in the high school commons.

Students working the phones hope to raise at least $25,000, which will be used for scholarships.

More than 75 Moorhead High School students gathered 718 pledges totaling $24,068 last year.

The phonathon is the major fundraiser for the foundation. Other funds come from businesses, service clubs and individuals, plus interest from the MAEF Endowment Fund.

The funds raised in 2011 allowed MAEF to award more than $83,850 to 57 graduates.

Since the first scholarships were given in 1991, more than $1 million has been awarded to 1,324 Moorhead High School graduates.

To learn more, visit the foundation’s section of the school district’s web site at www.moorhead.k12.mn.us/maef or email MAEF@moorhead.k12.mn.us.
