Fargo police to host two-day domestic violence courseFARGO – Fargo police will host a domestic violence course Tuesday and Wednesday for local law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders as part of the ongoing campaign “Domestic Violence: It’s Everyone’s Business.”
Lt. Mark Wynn, a nationally renowned trainer on domestic violence prevention and member of the Nashville (Tenn.) Metropolitan Police Department, will present the course, Fargo Lt. Joel Vettel said.
Local police, prosecutors, judges, legislators, social service providers, health care professionals and victim advocates are expected to attend.
Some of the topics will include threat assessment, stalking, investigating strangulation cases and techniques for responding to children who may be domestic abuse victims.
The domestic violence campaign was launched in November 2011 by Fargo police, Prairie St. John’s and the Rape and Abuse Crisis.
Vettel said Chief Keith Ternes sees the training as “an innovative way to kick off the whole program and kind of get it headed in the right direction.”
