Silbernagel announces state House candidacy

CASSELTON, N.D. – Republican Pete Silbernagel has announced his bid for the District 22 seat in the state House.

Rep. Vonnie Pietsch has announced she will not seek re-election.

Silbernagel, 61, is a Casselton resident and councilman. He was raised on the family farm near Linton and graduated from the University of Mary in Bismarck. He began his career with Melroe in Bismarck and has worked for manufacturing companies for nearly 40 years.

He is president of the Corrugated Pipe Business Unit at TrueNorth Steel in Fargo.

Silbernagel and his wife, Catherine, have three children, Joshua, Amanda and Chris, and a daughter-in-law, Rachel.

“I believe North Dakota is facing many serious issues. Participation in the political process is something I feel strong about,” Silbernagel said. “I have never been afraid to face challenges with a strong, clear voice – whether in business or in the political arena,” he said.

North Dakota District 22 covers the greater part of western Cass County.
