Williston Walmart getting tough on campers

WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) — Williston's Walmart is getting tough on campers.

The store has posted notices that campers will be towed after 24 hours. The notices say campers are causing safety, noise, litter and property problems that will no longer be tolerated.

Spokeswoman Kayla Whaling tells The Bismarck Tribune some campers were towed on Tuesday.

The parking lot at the Williston Walmart has become a mecca for oil field job seekers from around the country. It also has developed a reputation for being a place to avoid at night. Williston Mayor Ward Koeser last month said he had talked to store officials about the situation.

Whaling says the store sympathizes with workers who don't have a place to stay because of a housing shortage but says the store needs to respond to complaints.
