Tonight's 'Dirty Jobs' features West Fargo company

WEST FARGO – Viewers of tonight’s episode of “Dirty Jobs” will learn that there might be dirtier jobs out there, but few workplaces can top Great Plains Towers when it comes to gut-check time.

The folks from West Fargo-based Great Plains Towers took the Discovery Channel show’s host, Mike Rowe, to a tall butte near Dickinson, N.D., to film making the final touches on a 330-foot-tall radio tower.

The show, which airs at 8 p.m. on local cable channels, will also feature a celebration of Rowe having done a dirty job in all 50 states.

In the episode, filmed around Easter 2011, Rowe was hoisted to the top of the tower in strong winds and rain, said Kevin Reski, the owner and president of Great Plains Towers.

A previously aired “Dirty Jobs” segment focused on Moorhead Public Service and the work involved in cleaning the city’s water treatment plant. That show began airing in January.
