Semifinalist for North Dakota University System chancellor dies

BISMARCK – One of the six semifinalists for chancellor of North Dakota’s university system has died.

Board of Higher Education President Grant Shaft says a search committee will interview five people, instead of six, when the committee meets in Bismarck on Thursday.

Shaft is chairman of the search committee.

George Weathersby died Jan. 23 in Princeton, N.J. He was the chief executive of a Pennsylvania management consultancy and a former higher education commissioner in Indiana.

The Board of Higher Education is looking for a successor to incumbent Chancellor William Goetz. Goetz is retiring in August.
