Rely on doctors, not politicians

A recent letter written by Amy Jacobson states that “one thing we can all agree on is that politicians shouldn’t come between a woman and her doctor or interfere with medical decision-making.” Sunday, Jan. 22, marked the 39th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade U.S. Supreme Court decision, which happens to be that – politicians interfering with medical decision-making. Doctors know when life begins. Politicians do not.

One thing that we all do agree on is that abortion is wrong; a majority of Americans want all or almost all abortions made illegal.

Jacobsen said it is vital that women have a full range of “reproductive health care available to them, including abortion care.” How can “reproductive health care” include abortion?

Jacobson states that all women deserve the right to the information and means to make their own personal decisions freely and responsibly. So then why does Planned Parenthood object to having an ultrasound before the procedure? Isn’t it a woman’s right to have this information, as Jacobson stated?

Planned Parenthood is anti-family and is hurting women (and children). If Planned Parenthood really cared for the health of women, it would use its resources to educate and promote abstinence. After 39 years, it is clear that abortion has not helped women.

I challenge Planned Parenthood to focus on promoting responsible sexual behavior. Make family planning your goal before children are conceived. Eliminate abortion, not parents. Lives are depending on you.
